Ozwald Boateng x Poltrona Frau

CULTURE & CRAFT

This exclusive collaboration brings together the worlds of British tailoring and Italian furniture design. Fusing the discipline of Savile Row with the spirit of African heritage, the Culture & Craft collection redefines classic design through colour, pattern, and precision. Rooted in a shared commitment to craftsmanship, this partnership merges Ozwald Boateng’s bold design philosophy with Poltrona Frau’s legacy of artisanal excellence. The result is a collection of furniture and objects that carry identity, energy, and intention — where each piece is as personal as it is timeless.

ADORNED WITH SIGNATURE PATTERNS

At the centre of the Culture & Craft collection are two of Ozwald Boateng’s signature motifs, the Tribal pattern and the Kente pattern, both deeply rooted in African visual tradition and reinterpreted through his modern design lens.

The signature Tribal pattern is a refined evolution of traditional African cloth. It reflects centuries of craftsmanship, symbolism, and cultural pride. In this collection, it becomes a tactile design language, brought to life through a groundbreaking hand embossing technique developed in close collaboration with Poltrona Frau. It took over six months of experimentation to perfect the process, one that allows the pattern to rise organically from the surface of Pelle Frau® Nubuck leather, giving each piece depth, presence, and a sense of spiritual protection.

The signature Kente pattern used throughout the collection draws inspiration from the sacred ceremonial cloth of the Ashanti and Akan people of Ghana. Once worn only by royalty, Kente has always carried layered meanings through its colours and geometry. Boateng’s interpretation distils this legacy into a graphic print applied across furniture, wallpaper, and accessories. Every line and hue is considered, from the vibrant greens symbolising growth, to purples representing healing and protection.

These are not decorative flourishes. They are design statements, cultural symbols reimagined for contemporary living. Each pattern carries forward Ozwald Boateng’s mission, to express identity, spirit, and power through colour, craft, and form.

THE CHESTER COLLECTION

Classic Forms, Recut with Spirit

Poltrona Frau’s iconic Chester, Chester One, and Chester Line models are reimagined using Boateng’s signature Tribalmotif.
Embossed by hand onto Pelle Frau® Nubuck leather, the pattern takes inspiration from traditional Kente cloths, infusing the furniture with spiritual depth and graphic clarity. Each colour was created exclusively for this collection, drawing from the visual language of African textile traditions — rich, bold, and symbolic.

THE VANITY FAIR SERIES

Heritage Reupholstered

A modern take on a design icon. The Vanity Fair and Vanity Fair XC armchairs are upholstered in matte velvet and digitally printed with rounded tribal geometries. The patterns evoke ancestral African forms and are brought to life through subtle contrasts, layered tones, and immersive texture.

THE BEAUTILITIES COLLECTION

Everyday Ritual, Refined

More than accessories, these pieces extend the design narrative into the rituals of daily life. The Beautilities collection includes wool rugs, decorative cushions, wallpaper, candles, and a sculptural reinterpretation of the traditional African Mancala game. Each object reflects the same values: rooted in tradition, refined in execution, and designed for modern living.
